Sunset in Tangier

Sunset in Tangier

December 3rd, 2009

So this was the start of a two week overlanding tour of Morocco!  Karen and I had arrived early in Tangier so we could go and explore the city before heading out into the desert with the main tour group.

A few things that I remember about Tangier:

  • It smells!  Its a dirty port city that’s had a range of governing authorities and very few street cleaners.
  • It’s busy!  Whilst wandering through the medina we got horribly lost in the maze of alley ways and only managed to find our way out by tagging on to a French tourist group.
  • It was an unforgettable experience!  Whilst it may not have been the ideal point to start our adventure, it certainly made the rest of the trip enjoyable in comparison.

Here we are on the beach in the evening, it was a gorgeous sunset and I shot around 50 files.  This was one of the better ones with the silhouettes of the children and the ball falling into place to create a cool lasting memory to the start of the trip!
