Science, Photography, Life etc…

Just a quick one this week. I spent last weekend in the Lake District and visited a variety of places during a really good couple of days spent not thinking about work. I also added another lake to my list of ones visited; this is Wast Water in the western Lake District. It was a wonderfully atmospheric afternoon with low lying cloud allowing nice long exposures helped by an ND4 filter. I knew the photos would be prime candidates for black and white conversions. I’m trying to work on my composition and have been reading the excellent “The Photographer’s Eye” by Michael Freeman which is genuinely the best photography book I’ve ever come across. Its very well written and to someone who doesn’t enjoy picking meaning out of artistic work its a really clear and concise account of what to look for as a strong composition for a photo.
Thesis is going OK, complete draft will be done tomorrow and then I am doing a presentation on Thursday. The end is almost in sight and should feel a lot closer after tomorrow hopefully.
