Science, Photography, Life etc…

The end of my thesis and my time in Nottingham is in sight! I am in the process of discussing my results and, as the title of this post suggests, I have found something significant! I’m pretty pleased and pretty relieved! After all, who wouldn’t be a bit miffed if they had worked rather hard for 12 months to not find anything significant (although non-significant results do represent a hypothesis that is not proven which can still be useful).
I will probably put up a bit of a synopsis of my project and display some of my data within reason in a couple of weeks when the dust has settled and I’ve caught up on sleep.
The photo for this post eludes to the p value (0.05) which represents the threshold of significance (or alpha) that a result is accepted or rejected at. Its taken just using the natural light coming through a gap in my curtains and the document is one of my statistics workshops as an undergraduate, which I’ve used more this year than at any point during my BSc! Thanks Steve Rolfe!

I see you’ve not revealed what’s significant, are we going to have to wait for the next edition of Nature to find out?
Exactly, its a cunning ploy!
