Footsteps in the cloisters…

Another one of my favourite places in the world, the Cloisters at Durham Cathedral.  This open courtyard invariably seems to have fantastic lighting with great contrast offering some unique opportunities to work on some adventurous portraits.  I sat and ate lunch then got shooting, I’m not the most natural photographer of people so focussing feet helps avoid odd stares (or maybe I just don’t notice them when I’m looking through the viewfinder!)  This was taken on the southern side and was one of my many attempts at getting something different.  I think I succeeded in what I was going for and was pleased with the result.
