Science, Photography, Life etc…

As I mentioned previously it’s been a very busy week. Right now I am back at my parents house having heard our wedding banns being read this morning and am heading back to the Northwest early tomorrow. I have had a moderately successful week and there are a few photos that I think are sufficiently interesting to put online.

This is my one of my prized possessions at the moment; my Kindle. I got it for Christmas and have barely put it down! It’s a really impressive device, the text is incredibly clear and easy to read, even in relatively low light, and even the web browser is better than I thought. This photo was pretty simple to create; using a sheet of brown parcel paper and a couple of LED building lights I used my remote release due to the low shutter speed due to the low light levels and captured the above image.

I made a rudimentary light box earlier this week, I hacked up a TV box and stuck it together which sort of worked. It’s not the most exciting or technically great image but it was a fun little project and has given me the impetus to find a more appropriate box!

At a loss for things to photograph I decided to try and capture something interesting in the bathroom. Using a single pumice foot stone I took a couple of different photos and fused them together in photoshop to create this image. It’s something different and seemed to work quite well.

This is my second photo from Friday, Chippa was sunbathing in some really nice contrasty light which was crying out to be photographed. A simple conversion to black and white using SilverEfex really enhanced the tone and structure of the image. I’m very pleased with it and have learnt to carry my camera with me a lot more now in case of future awesome light opportunities!

This is our wedding book and some of the magazines and books we’ve been reading. Its just under 5 weeks until the big day so things are ticking into place and t’s are being crossed and i’s dotted. I’m very excited!
Next week I shall post a few of my older photos that are on my gallery but not my blog to keep you all interested whilst I collect more of my photo365 shots.
