Last weekend we went to Colchester Zoo, which given it was the most expensive zoo I’ve been to had a lot to prove!  We particularly wanted to see the grey wolves and African Painted Dogs as top predators are some the most interesting and beautiful animals.  Sadly I didn’t get any good photos of the painted dogs, but I did have plenty of shots from the wolves that I was pleased with (like the two in this post).

I’ve written about zoo’s on several occasions, and I always find it difficult to compare them.  I love going to South Lakes Wild Animal Park as it really feels unique with the more open enclosures and multi level walkways, plus the awesome way they feed the big cats is always worth a look.  Blackpool zoo offered something a bit different as well, their sea lion display was excellent and I loved being able to see the penguins diving underwater without the tank being covered in scum for once!

Here’s the post on my photo-a-day map (its now photo a week really…)
